Introduction:
People typically seek
alternative possibilities when a relationship fails. Manjula Padmanabhan's
science fiction "Unfaithful Servants" effectively conveys its
message. "Holos," or "phantom-ghosts," represent genuine
persons. People are substituting sentiments, wants, and close connections with
rage and revenge.
Uaan and Rauf:
Rauf was clearly
wealthy, elite. The crystal dome of their exquisite abode, patterned on Kubla
Khan's summer house, shone like a star. The property contained a hummingbird
habitat, an acre-long garden with multiple floors, and a solar-heated pool. The
bottle was sealed and pressurized.
A life ticket allowed them to board any of
the daily shuttles to and from the landing location. Rauf owned a low-budget
Tri-D movie studio for three years. He hired Uaan, a possible designer. She
became his sole technical assistant, corporate manager, romantic partner, and
wife. He trusted her and listened to her. She had privileged knowledge of his
deepest secrets. That Uaan was kind, creative, helpful, and loving. When he
discovers she made the Living Holo, he feels severe physical agony and envy.
Rauf agreed with her. One can touch a Holo
but not change or control it. A delicate handshake is good, but a full cup of
tea is too weighty. The picture would fall when the cup broke. The model Uaan
constructed worked better than all the store-bought ones. Before leaving, the
object next to Rauf offered him coffee, opened a napkin, and ate an entire
slice of bread. Rauf, however, was secretly creating a computer replica of
himself. He spoke these statements to defend himself from Uaan's unwarranted
distrust and anguish. Someone of his stature and influence would have minor
romantic issues.
The Duo's breakup:
The two were clearly
drifting apart. In one month, they spent few hours together. She appeared like
Rauf to prolong their victory's remorse. A Holo that could move and communicate
with the actual world must have been challenging to create. Her artificial look
required months of holo-filming, editing, and analysis. Rauf understood the
empty seat next to his wife and decided there was only one option to win the
game. He was unsurprised by his determination to kill his wife. He completed
his work on time. His hard effort paid off when he created a robot that looked
like him and replicated his actions. Uaan's Holo was difficult to solve. It
understands his tastes and preferences.
The unfaithful servants:
Rauf placed the
Holo gadget near Uaan in the slumberizer unit to prevent her from waking up.
Uaan was to swallow the Quick-Solv tablet to appear to have committed suicide.
He is excited to leave Uaan for a three-day training camp in Sri Lanka. Rauf's
preferred person in the room is herself, and she must be in the slumberizer to
fall asleep. Instead of Uaan, it was her Holy. RaufTwo approached and lightly
pushed the figure. Uaan Two gazed at RaufTwo and gently sat up when he woke up.
They are always looking for opportunities to spend time together.
The
"unfaithful servants" desired more time together, the narrative goes.
RaufTwo used UaanTwo's latest maneuver. Static energy sparks form a bright ring
around both holos. The discourse finishes when the bright figures blend
together. The powerful release shattered the solar panels and cut house power.
Their intense love wiped out the two Holos. The crystal mansion was on fire,
and no one knew where the other two residents were.
Getting Apart:
Rauf visited the damage
site. Although the police had left, Earthside reporters and visitors saw how
the bizarre event had changed the neighborhood before leaving. Rauf stepped
from his minicruiser and stood straight on the balcony. Since it was nighttime,
he was wearing his emergency spacesuit, which was freezing. He struggled not to
bite the suit and shuddered while Uaan talked. He also said he planned her
death and said she looked magnificent at her funeral in a space suit. Nearest
to Uaan was less than five yards away. He was tall and serene. She moved her
arm to turn on her helmet radio and vanished.
This anecdote illustrates the mind's power.
To empower women worldwide, highlight how their difficulties are shared.
