The Revival Of Learning (1400-1550)

Introduction : Age of Revival also called as the Age of preparation. The age of Chaucer came to an end,beginning of Spenser age .The Age of Revival, commonly referred to as the Renaissance, was the time of major political shifts in Europe that lasted from about the 14th to the 17th centuries. During this time, Europe transitioned from the medieval feudal system to the early stages of modern governance. This transformation was marked by the emergence of powerful monarchies, the decline of feudal systems, and the rise of nation-states.This change was characterized by the growth of centralized monarchies, the weakening of feudalism, and the rise of nation-states.

Political Changes;Renaissance 

During this time, England was caught in a web of political turmoil, yet it was steadily rising, akin to an eagle soaring to great heights. Intellectually, the nation was making a significant progress. Around 1476, Caxton brought printing to England, where books and ideas could be spread throughout the entire country. Schools and universities began to replace the old monasteries, and during the Renaissance, Greek thought and culture started to influence England. The Reformation also championed the spiritual freedom of individuals. Although many notable figures emerged during this period, literature seemed to lag behind. The Political chaos hindered literary growth, as literature thrives in peaceful settings; it requires quiet reflection rather than the frenetic energy of the Renaissance. Only after navigating this dynamic period could the new literature of the Elizabethan age truly flourish.

Revival of Learning :

During this time, writers like Dante Alighieri, Geoffrey Chaucer, and William Shakespeare produced timeless literary masterpieces. The resurgence of classical texts and the rise of vernacular languages were instrumental in influencing the evolution of modern literature and philosophy.The Renaissance highlighted how crucial education was and led to the creation of universities. This period saw significant changes in education, resulting in the establishment of new schools and universities, focused on classical studies, sciences, and the arts.
